Decisions, decisions. Today I have to make my choice amongst the numerous colleges and universities of Brisbane – no postponing any more. It seems that all my fellow students have already applied and here am I, still undecided.
At least I know where I would like to stay. I have heard quite a lot about Genesis 1 Student Accommodation. It seems just perfect. Maybe I should pick a uni nearest to it?
An aptitude test shows that I would do well in one of the medical disciplines. But which one? At Griffith University I can study to become a doctor or do medical research. Another option would be QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute. Should I pick one of the alternative branches, there are the Australasian College of Natural Therapies and the Endeavour College of Natural Health.
But I am also interested in social work, psychology and education. I have looked at the Australian Catholic University’s courses. A career in the social sciences would tie in beautifully with my boyfriend’s theology courses. He too had a choice of several institutions apart from the major universities, like the Australian College of Ministries, the Brisbane School of Theology, the Holy Spirit Seminary, the Nazarene Theological College or the Groves Christian College.
My parents would like it if I study law. I suppose in which case I should decide upon one of the main universities like the University of Queensland’s TC Beirne School of Law, QUT or Griffith. I wish now that I had spent more time on research and less on daydreaming.
Journalism is another career that I have thought about. The idea is so romantic. And advertising and marketing could be such fun. So would the performing arts be. Drama. I am not built for ballet. I can sing though. QUT would be my Uni of choice.
The Griffith South Bank campus is situated on the river. Imagine attending classes in such a beautiful setting. There should be a course amongst the vast list offered that is exactly right for me.
Somewhere I have read that in Brisbane one can study to be an aviator or take a course in rural and remote medicine. The decision is too important to make today. I’LL TRY NEXT WEEK.
This snippet from a student’s diary is not so uncommon for a lot of students, but for international students studying in Brisbane, it is important to know where you will study, what you’ll study, and very importantly, where you will stay.
